She aspires to empower single moms to live life on their terms and not have to choose between work and family life.
As a young single mom trying to make ends meet, I couldn’t afford daycare, and I struggled to balance a full-time job while taking care of my then two-year-old son. There just weren’t any companies offering the type of flexible work schedule that many of us parents still need. I started designing clothes for kids as a creative outlet for stress relief and to make a little side income, but my side hustle evolved into a full-time career faster than I could imagine.
Doing what I loved and successfully balancing work and family life was empowering. I wondered why more companies didn’t offer this kind of flexibility to their employees. After all, children are only little for so long, and parents shouldn’t have to choose between working and looking after their kids.
With that, I started Three Yellow Starfish โ a brand and a culture that puts family first and makes a difference in the community.
